After some intense bead and sequin sourcing, it was then off to the Hauz Khas Complex, where lunch at Coast Café could easily be mistaken for a beachside café in Coogee. Strolling through some contemporary design stores one minute, then walks through 13th Century medieval mosques and madrasas the next – it’s such a strange convergence of the two, in the efforts to create a tourist friendly site. Locals would sit in these grand old sandstone pavilions, just casually hanging out with a group of friends, playing guitar, laughing – it was so bizarre.
The day was coming to an end, so we trudged
our way up 5 flights of stairs to find a rooftop restaurant and bar,
overlooking the monuments. As cliché as it sounds, with lots of laughs with
friends, a rooftop sunset overlooking Delhi and some good food and drinks – it
had to be the perfect way to end our last day in Delhi. Tomorrow we head off on
a 6am train for Jaipur!
